Introduction |
Setting Up a Webcam A Webcam is a camera system producing a video image that can be viewed on the web. This process consists of two elements: capturing the video and distributing the captured video. The physical components of the system include a camera, encoding device like a Webcaster or MediaCaster, and hardware for the physical bandwidth connection, i.e. a router or modem. However, a Webcaster or MediaCaster is not necessary with Network Cameras because the Webcaster device is built inside the camera. Setting up such a system is straightforward - the camera is connected to the encoding system, which then connects to the bandwidth using the modem or router. Some user specific information is entered into the system configuration and ... that's it! When all the elements are in place, you will be broadcasting to the Internet, or "webcasting" as it is known. |
