Introduction |
Choosing a Webcam Solution: Software Internet surfers that wish to view live video on the web usually need some kind of helper application to load the images, depending on the type of camera system producing the video. The first time a client tries to connect to one of these systems a prompt to download an ActiveX control will appear. Accepting this control the first time will install it on the client machine and allow future viewing seamlessly. Embedded video servers usually support more than one viewing option, typically an ActiveX control or a Java Applet. Having the option is helpful to clients that may be on a network that does not allow ActiveX or Java or both for some reason. In those cases, it is good to have at least an updating image available as an option. Streaming media, like Windows Media and Real Media, require special players that can be downloaded for free from the Internet. When you try to access one of these streams without the appropriate player, there will be a prompt to download the necessary player. |
